Equipment

  • 3/4 ton or larger diesel truck.
  • Vehicle must be plated at 26,000 lbs.
  • Commercial grade mud flaps installed that covers the entire width of the wheel (both wheels if it is a dully) and no more than 4 inches from the ground.
  • Fifth wheel hitch (minimum of 16k).
  • Class 5-rear receiver hitch with a 2″ and 2 5/16″ ball mount.
  • Fire extinguisher with a pressure gauge.
  • A set of basic hand tools.
  • 12 volt battery, full size marine or RV battery with a battery box with 1” or larger strap.
  • Current federal DOT truck inspection required.
  • Two seven way plugs, one in the rear and one in the bed of the truck.
  • Hitch pin or padlock.
  • Tire chains for truck can be purchased when needed.
  •  Torque wrench.
  • Zip ties or license plate bolts.
  • Break controller.
  • Window tint of winshield, driver and passenger front windows must not prevent more than 70% light transmission. As per federal regs 393.60

Having basic knowledge of truck/trailer wiring hitches, brakes, suspensions, and drivelines allowing one to quickly solve minor problems.
These suggestions are made not to cause added expense, but rather to save time and money in the long run.
